Nigerian university students under the auspices of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) recently took to the streets in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, threatening to shut down activities in the nation’s private universities if the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is not called off and public universities re-opened.
The students carried several placards that showed their anger and exasperation at the lingering crisis that has kept university students in the country at home for about three months. They poured invectives on the Federal Government for failing to honour the agreement it entered into with ASUU since 2009.
